From the HOD's Desk

Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering is a dynamic and exciting area that provides excellent career opportunities in various sectors of the society. The branch carries a lot of importance in the present day applications in areas like Embedded System Design, PLC & Automation, Internet of Things, Telecommunication Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning etc. The Department is determined to be in the fore front of providing quality education in contemporary and emerging areas. We are committed to encourage students/researchers to carry out innovative research to usher developments in the field of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, keeping excellence in focus and deliver quality services to match the needs of the technical education system, industry and society. . We are committed to give our students an environment where they develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they advance through the program. In addition to classroom teaching, the students are guided and motivated to practically implement the principles learnt in classrooms through experimentations in the laboratories which help students gain confidence and become skilled engineering professionals. Courses in areas like Python Programming, Programmable Logic Controller, IOT (Internet of Things) etc are provided to students to train them and give them a leading edge. Also we have a Texas Instruments Innovation Center where training in the latest Texas boards and IOT is provided to all students to make them industry ready.
In addition to the U.G. Program in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Department also offer P.G. Program in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering with specialization as Signal Processing. The department has an intake of 120 for U.G and 24 for P.G. program with 23 well experienced, qualified faculty members and well qualified technical staff. The department has state-of the-art laboratories in the areas of Communication, DSP, Analog Microprocessor & VLSI design etc. Department also has a Texas Innovation Centre established in association with Texas Instruments, USA. Department also has a long list of MoU’s with industries of national and international repute. In a nutshell, the department is well nurture to cater the needs of the education for the career enhancement of students from both technical as well as social aspects. Furthermore, the core values of the department help the students to develop their overall personality and make them worthy technocrat to compete and work at global level. We will continue to pursue our vision in the days to come and in the process add value to our stakeholders.

Engineers Day 2022

Theme:
To honor Sir Mokshagundam Viswesvaraya's contributions to society as an engineer and to recognize the role that engineers have played in helping to create the nation. Also to improve students’ mental ability and confidence with fun & refresh the minds of students through different activities & improve bonding between students.

Description:
IN JSPM’s ICOER Wagholi Branch, an Engineers day event with a poster presentation, one-minute talk and quiz competition for students of the E&Tc department was arranged on 14/9/2022 (Wednesday) to break the monotony of academics and to honor Sir Mokshagundam Viswesvaraya's contributions to society as an engineer.

Conduction :
The whole event was arranged & managed by E &TC students to build their leadership skills. Hidden talents of students emerge from such events.

Project Based Learning Project Exhibition

Description and Introduction: The main stream engineering education follows traditional classroom teaching, in which the major focus is mainly on the lecturer and the student has very little (if any) choice on the learning process. This traditional approach no doubt has been effective for years; however rapid development in engineering and technology requires adopting a teaching approach that would assist students not only in developing a core set of industry relevant skills, but also enable them to adapt to changes in their professional career. Today the employer’s demands are: Communication skills, Ability to work in Interdisciplinary teams, Analytical skills, and Management skills. This consideration concludes that Project-Based Learning (PBL) is the best way to fulfil industry needs.

Theme: The project exhibition gave the student platform to identify innovative minds and enhance their team building and leadership skills. The exhibition also provided an opportunity for the students to showcase their creativity, team work, technical expertise presentation and social responsibility.

Conduction: The Project Based Learning Project Exhibition conducted by Electronics & Telecommunication department. The PBL Project exhibition was organized for second year students of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Department. A platform to showcase the project work of second year students, in which the fabricated final product were displayed. Students and staff from other departments visited all the projects and carried out technical discussions with the project groups. Experienced faculty judged the individual projects and their presentation skills were evaluated.

Students & Faculty response & participation: Total 129 students have participated in the exhibition divided in 49 different groups, who have displayed 49 live projects. Five groups had actively participated in “Student Developer Project Competition” on 13 May 22, organized by Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and SIG Smart city IEEE Pune section, JSPM JSCOE IEEE Student branch and won the first prize.





Higher Education & Career Opportunities Abroad

Description and Introduction: The Training & Placement Cell of Department of E&TC Engineering of JSPM’s ICOER, Wagholi, Pune in association with Study Smart, Pune organized a webinar on ‘Higher Education & Career Opportunities Abroad’ on 04/02/2022 for TE & BE E&TC students.

Theme: To make aware the students about the higher education and career opportunities abroad.

Conduction: The Speaker Ms. Shelija Giri from Study Smart conducted the session very well and also interacted and answered students doubts related the same. The key areas covered in the webinar are:
1. Why to study abroad?
2. Common Myths of studying abroad.
3. Career Options - Placement and Education - Abroad.
4. Scholarship Options for Higher Studies.
5. Free Education Options in countries like Germany, USA and UK etc.
6. How to prepare and get support for IELTS exam.

Students & Faculty response & participation: The Webinar is arranged for TE & BE students of E&TC. Apart from E&TC, students from other departments of ICOER also registered for the webinar and attended it. The webinar was conducted through the Zoom meetings Platform. The webinar was attended by 37 students. Total 85 Students from ICOER registered for the program. There was an interactive session at the end of webinar. Participants were asked questions and they remarked that the webinar was very useful to them to find the new opportunities in Higher education & placements abroad.




JAVA Training

Description and Introduction: To strengthen the concepts of JAVA from placement point of view this training program was arranged by Training & Placement Cell of E&TC Department of JSPM’s ICOER, Pune in association with GTT Barclays Life skills Program. Global Talent Track (GTT) is an education and training venture, set up by some of the best minds from the industry, education and technology domains. The venture aims to provide ‘quality with scale’ through programs delivered with the help of innovative technologies and compelling content. GTT provides training to the freshers hired by companies such as Cognizant, Capgemini, Genpact, Infosys, Oracle, Hexaware, etc. As part of their CSR initiative, Barclays has decided to skill unemployed youths as per the industry requirements.

Theme: To improve the core knowledge in JAVA from placement point of view.

Conduction: Barclays Training Program was conducted by T & P Cell E&TC Department of ICOER for B.E. students. This program was aimed at strengthening the JAVA concepts & improving students’ job opportunities.

Guest Details: Dr. Amar Singh was the trainer appointed by GTT Barclays who has conducted all the sessions on JAVA concepts.

Students & Faculty response & participation: Total 50+ Students from E&TC departments of ICOER registered for the program. On second day onwards students from other departments of ICOER also joined few sessions. Students were benefited with the knowledge shared by esteemed resource persons.





Training & Internship in Industrial Automation

Description and Introduction: Industrial automation is the use of control systems, such as computers or robots, and information technologies for handling different processes and machineries in an industry to replace a human being. It is the second step beyond mechanization in the scope of industrialization. To explore all the important aspects of this domain and its applications like 3D printing, Robotics etc. this webinar has been aimed. SSIG Manufacturing Advancements (SSIGMA) is a startup established in 2016, has an objective to provide, support and enhance the skills in this domain. Internships and trainings in this domain are also highlighted in the Webinar. SSIGMA conducted this Webinar on Saturday, 08/01/2022 at 11 am.

Theme : To highlight the Industrial Automations domain with concepts like Robotics, 3D printing, PLC etc.

Conduction : This Webinar “Training & Internship in Industrial Automation” has been arranged by SSIGMA Pvt Ltd. specially for TE & BE Students on Saturday, 08/01/2022. In this Webinar the Speaker Om Raut, Sr. Application Engineer of SSIGMA has presented the Objectives of the Trainings and Internships modules they have introduced specially for TE and BE students. The Webinar has also highlighted the examples of Industrial Applications of PLC and Robotics. Students were also introduced with the complex assemblies and setups used generally in Industrial Automation like 3D printing and its applications in real time.

Guest Details : The Speaker Om Raut, Sr. Application Engineer of SSIGMA has presented the Objectives of the Trainings and Internships modules.

Students & Faculty response & participation: The Students from E&TC & Mechanical departments (around 80+) of ICOER have attended and enjoyed the sessions. Students were benefited with the knowledge shared by esteemed resource persons. This webinar will definitely helped students who are really interested in Core fields like Industrial Automation which basically a part of future technology like Industry 4.0 and to join internships/Trainings in this domain.





Five Day Faculty Development Program on Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality

Description and Introduction Augmented reality overlays digital content and information onto the physical world — as if they’re actually there with you, in your own space. AR opens up new ways for your devices to be helpful throughout your day by letting you experience digital content in the same way you experience the world. It lets you search things visually, simply by pointing your camera at them. It can put answers right where your questions are by overlaying visual, immersive content on top of your real world. Various sessions will help the faculty members to unfold the technology in terms of its need, applications and available tools etc.

Theme: Online sessions were arranged for Faculty as well as students to make them aware of one of the new cutting-edge technology AR & VR.

Conduction: The 5-Day FDP had a blend of experts from this AR & VR domain and all of them guided participants at their fullest capacity. The topics covered in the FDP were mainly focusing the basics of AR & VR, its need, applications and its interdisciplinary use. In this FDP and 163 (Faculty-89 Students-74) members have registered for the FDP.

International Webinar on "Digital Twin Technology"

Description and Introduction: Digital twins are virtual replicas of physical devices that data scientists and IT pros can use to run simulations before actual devices are built and deployed. They are also changing how technologies such as IoT, AI and analytics are optimized.

A digital twin also can be used for monitoring, diagnostics and prognostics to optimize asset performance and utilization. In this field, sensory data can be combined with historical data, human expertise and fleet and simulation learning to improve the outcome of prognostics.

Theme: Online session was arranged for UG, PG students, research scholars and faculty members to make them aware of the Digital Twin Technology concepts, which some of the participants may opt as job opportunity in future.

Significance: To prepare the students with the skill set required for various job opportunities or to start their own start up.

Conduction: The session was conducted by Dr Anand Nayyar, Scientist, Duy Tan University, Viet Nam using Zoom online platform, which was very much beneficial to the participants.

Webinar on Electric Vehicle :An overview

Description and Introduction:
Topic of the webinar is very interesting as it is vehicle is part of our life.Nowdays most of the vehicles operated on diesel, petrol which makes our environment polluted. Electrical vehicle is best option to save from global warming .The main concept here is to exchange vehicle’s combustion system with storage devices. An electric vehicle may be powered through a collector system by electricity from off-vehicle sources, or may be self-contained with a battery, solar panels or an electric generator to convert fuel to electricity.
Theme:
Online sessions were arranged for students to make them aware about electric vehicle its usage, operation.
Significance:
For designing of electrical vehicle requires mechanical and electrical as well as electronics concepts. Engineers from these streams get career opportunities for the same in future.
Conduction:
Session was started with introduction of guest and welcome of participants. Mr.Bharatbhushan P.Bhagwat guided and explained to all the participants about electric vehicle, its operation. We can save lot petrol,diesel by using cars works with storage devices. . After detailed explanation session ended with participant interaction under question answer session.

Activity:
As Coronavirus spreads throughout the world most of us are in lockdown at home, so we can interact with students through online platform. This helps students broaden their skills, as well as their understanding of their field of interest. Hence Department of E & Tc has organized webinar on “Electric Vehicle: An Overview” for students to explore new technologies and invention.
Students & Faculty response & participation:
Students from various departments of ICOER and other colleges in and around Pune attended and enjoyed all the sessions. Students were benefited with the knowledge shared by esteemed resource persons. Students had very nice interaction with resource person. In question answer session students have discussed about charging stations, battery life issue, wireless charging topic etc.




Webinar on “Robotics and IOT”

Webinar was conducted by E&TC department of ICOER for E&TC students as well as students from other institutes under the guidance of our Principal Dr.R.S.Deshpande and our departmental HOD Dr.S.K.Bhatia. They emphasized the need to prepare students for Robotics in present scenario. The topic of webinar was placed in an organized manner which helped students in many aspects.

Activity:
Edgate Technologies ,Bangalore, TI University program conducted webinar for E&TC dept. students on 08th June, They demonstrated the Brainwave Robotic kits by them and also demo of IOT projects were shown . Webinar was conducted by E&TC department of ICOER for E&TC students as well as students form other institute to make them aware of Industry 4.0. This program was aimed at improving students’ job opportunities and increases their employability opportunities and future ready Engineer for industry 4.0.
Students & Faculty response & participation:
100 students and faculty attended this webinar form ICOER as well as from other institutes on Zoom App and around 80 participants joined on YouTube. The response to the workshop was appreciable. The covered technical topics which were found to be helpful and the webinar were well placed within the time limits.

Our workplaces are likely to change, and with it, the skills companies will require. So it is necessary to introduce the upcoming revolutions in the industry to the students.
Theme:
Online session was arranged for students to make them aware of the Career Opportunities in solar energy.
Significance:
To introduce the opportunities in Solar Energy to academicians/and students. Also discuss social impact and scope of these technologies in the global market in upcoming years with examples.
Conduction:
This Webinar was conducted by Mr. Sanyam Indurkhya, Director, Sai Tech Energy Space Systems. More than 80 students of E&Tc, Electrical & Mechanical branch from various college of Pune were attended this webinar. Mr.Sanyam Indurkhya focused on following points during presentation.
1.Types of Renewable energy
2.Step by step electricity bill analysis and net metering.
3.Financial investments and saving through solar energy.
4.Introduction of day to day life product such as overheat PV System, Solar AC, Solar refrigerator and Electric meters.

6.Introduce the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission announced by PM of India.
7.And finally requirement of expertise and various job opportunities in solar energy.

Webinar on “Opportunities in Indian NAVY for Engineers”

Description and Introduction:
The speaker was Lt. Cdr. G. Abhishek, prestigious alumni of E&Tc department from 2014 batch. The speaker introduces various entry schemes available for engineers in Indian NAVY. He also talked about different rounds for interview conducted to join Indian NAVY. Speaker shares his journey from an intern in NAVY to a Lt. Cdr. position in NAVY. He also shares some of the useful websites for preparation needed to join Indian NAVY.
Theme:
The theme of said webinar is to make students aware about different opportunities present in Indian NAVY, after their engineering Graduation.
Significance:
The purpose of above mentioned webinar was to introduce various opportunities available for engineering students in Indian NAVY after their graduation.

A webinar on “Opportunities in Indian NAVY for Engineers” was organized for SE, TE & BE students of E&Tc Department of ICOER.

Students & Faculty response & participation:
A very informative session was taken by him giving an indepth knowledge. The webinar was very useful for all students of E &TC Department irrespective of their Year. It definitely upgraded knowledge of students about various opportunities in Indian NAVY for engineers. 85 Students of ICOER participated in webinar & get benefited from knowledge shared by speaker.






Webinar on “ A step towards entrepreneurship for engineers”

Description and Introduction:
The webinar was given by Mr.Deep Mukarjee on “A step towards Entrepreneurship for Engineers” for the students all the students of ICOER and other colleges. He is a Director of, Data Dynamx Pvt. Ltd. Pune and also the Alumni of ICOER, 2012 batch. The webinar was arranged by Department of E&TC(ICOER). Entrepreneurship is the creation or extraction of value.
Theme:
1.To make students aware about scope in Electronics in different fields.
2. To give idea that how to identify business area.
Significance:
Some more narrow definitions has described entrepreneurship as the process of designing, launching and running a new business, which is often initially a small business, or as the "capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks to make a profit."
Conduction:
The event was conducted on Zoom online platform. This primarily focuses on the use of large-scale machine to machine communication (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) deployments to provide increased automation, improved communication and self-monitoring, as well as smart machines that can analyze and diagnose issues without the need for human intervention.

Webinar During Covid -19 Lockdown







Industrial Visit at Giant Meterwave Radio Telescope (GMRT), Khodad, Tq.- Narayangaon, Dist.-Pune.

Industrial Visit was arranged for SE (E&TC) students at GMRT, Khodad. This visit was intended to make all the students familiar with real time applications of different antennas. National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA) has set up a unique facility for radio astronomical research using the meter wavelengths range of the radio spectrum, known as the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT), it is located at a site about 80 km north of Pune. GMRT consists of 30 fully steerable gigantic parabolic dishes of 45m diameter each spread over distances of up to 25 km. GMRT is one of the most challenging experimental programs in basic sciences undertaken by Indian scientists and engineers.
Also On the occasion of Science Day, there was a project exhibition arranged on 28th and 29th February 2020 at GMRT.
Overall 33 students, accompanied by 3 faculty members, visited GMRT, Khodad,Pune.

"Battle of the Intellects" Quiz Mania as the name suggests is a Quiz Competition aimed to gauge the General knowledge of participants by covering a wide range of topics such as Current Affairs, Sports, and Technology etc. The event was solely crafted for all the quiz enthusiasts.
Activity: Round 1:
This round based on a MCQ exam which was consisting of 50 questions based on current affairs. For each question, 1 mark awarded.

Industrial Visit to BSNL Office

Industrial Visit to BSNL Office GMSC, Chinchwad Telephone  Exchange, Near Niramaya Hospital Chinchwad station,Chinchwad   Pune-19
The industrial visit was arranged for students so that students get practical knowledge of working of Base station controller, Mobile switching center and antennas used for mobile communication.
The BSNL RTTC trainers D.S. Borole and his team explained all sections of this station and also discussed about various aspects of modern day mobile communication. Prof. A. S. Deshpande & Prof. D. A. Jadhav along with 65 students were present for the visit.

Faculty Training Program on Learning Resources FDP is designed to enhance the teaching and other skills of the faculty. And to make them aware about modern teaching tools and methodologies. It provides an opportunity to acquire knowledge about current technological developments in relevant fields. It will not only promote the professional practices relevant to technical education but also motivates the faculty to achieve competitive teaching and learning environment, thus channelizing development with respect to academic qualifications and personal matters.
All units notes, last three SPPU question solution, required documentation was prepared by faculty during FDP under experienced teachers.

MARROW Technology gives opportunities to students in software consulting, cloud consulting, research and innovation, product development.
MARROW TECHNOLOGY PVT LTD Campus placement drive was conducted for B.E. E&TC (Batch 2020) students on 5th August, 2019.. T & P department routinely organizes campus drives for B.E. E&TC students and offers jobs to them.
Students showed positive response for the Technical & Personal Interview.Approx. 71 students from JSPM Wagholi institutes participated in it. 15 students were shortlisted, 4 students were selected.

India First Robotics Pvt Ltd Campus Placement Drive

NDIA FIRST ROBOTICS PVT LTD Campus placement drive was conducted by T & P department of ICOER for B.E. E&TC (Batch 2020) students on 16th August 2019. India FIRST Robotics is India’s no.1 Robotics Education company, which is also into robotics automation manufacturing & research. IFR is consortium with BSI Kochi.
12 students were shortlisted, 6 students selected for Internship leading to Job.

AON Cocube Recruitment Preparation Tests (15th to 26th July 2019)

To prepare students for the placement tests, domain tests, coding tests and various aptitude tests.
The main aim of these tests is to provide practice sessions to students about various Cocube recruitment tests.
Tests were conducted in the E&TC Department for the students of BE (E&TC) for the preparation of Reassessment Exam of Cocubes. The biggest challenge today for the students is to decide which field they want to choose as their career and how to work for attaining the same. Cocube technologies conducted these tests for careers opportunities. Team members in Cocube Technology, shared their knowledge to all BE E&TC students. Cocube team had discussion with students regarding current trends in Electronics and IT field and opportunities in the same.

This seminar was essential giving students a broader perspective to think in terms of career in Field of IoT and Python Technology. Audit course workshop at Bharti Vidyapeeth College of Engineering for Women by JSPM’s ICOER TEXAS Instruments Innovation Center.

A 2 day workshop for TE students was conducted on 1.3 & 2.3 for Bharti Vidyapeeth COE for Women. Dr. S. R. Patil Principal, emphasized the need for having such Technical worshop in the campus.Theory and hands on sessions were conducted and students were told about TEXAS boards like MSP430,CC110,CC3100, TIVA Launchpad etc.Students also showed a lot of zeal towards learning something new and advanced .
The institute in the past has conducted similar workshops for DY patil SOE, JSCOE Hadapsar, Dhole Patil COE, SBPCOE under TE audit course.

Texas Instruments* is a global semiconductor design and manufacturing company which sells it to electronic designers and manufactures globally. The Texas Instruments University Program is dedicated to supporting engineering educators, researchers and students worldwide.
Our Innovation Center has been set up under this TI University Program.Training is provided to students and faculty for Texas Products. It covered complete application building concepts using MSP430 series MCU, TIVA platform & Energia platform. Due to ultra-low power consumption feature, it is widely used in portable devices.
This workshop was not only conducted for in house students but also 135 students and 5 faculty from outside colleges gave an overwhelming response. SBPCOE Indapur, DPCOE Wagholi, PGMCOE Wagholi, SCOE, Junnar, Shree Chhatrapati College Ahmednagar, DYPSCE Lohgaon to name a few.

Software Club Inaugural(1/7/2019)

“Software Club” is a group formed by students under which students will enhance their programming skill like C, Java, SQL etc. It will improve job opportunities for students as most of the MNC companies require this skill for their job profile. Program was started with welcome speech by final year students followed by Speech of Principal Dr. D. D. Shah. Head of Computer Dept. Dr. D. P. Gadekar and Head of E&TC dept. Dr. S. L.
